Why Custom Manufacturing Matters for Electrical Cabinet Base Components
The base of an electrical cabinet is an important part of the enclosure structure. In industrial cabinet systems, a plinth can provide a stable base while creating additional space for cable entry and routing.
According to Rittal, plinth systems can be assembled from corner pieces and panels, with the base area also being used for cable management. Schneider Electric similarly offers modular plinth systems consisting of corner components and panels.
Four Common Types of Cabinet Base Corners
Different cabinet structures require different corner configurations. Four common types include:
1. Plinth Corner
The Plinth Corner connects the main sections of the cabinet base and helps form the overall plinth structure. Accurate dimensions and mounting holes are important for proper assembly.
2. Right & Left Frame Corner
The Right & Left Frame Corner is designed for frame connections on different sides of the cabinet. Its symmetrical or directional design allows it to be used for corresponding right- and left-side frame configurations.
3. Support Frame Corner
The Support Frame Corner is used to reinforce the cabinet frame structure. It provides additional connection points between different sections of the base and helps maintain the rigidity of the assembled frame.
4. Universal Corner
The Universal Corner is designed for more flexible applications and can be used with different cabinet frame configurations. This type of component can be useful for customized enclosure structures where a versatile connection solution is required.
Although these components are relatively small, they connect multiple sections of the cabinet base. Dimensional accuracy, hole positioning, material selection and surface treatment can therefore affect the assembly of the complete plinth.
For customized electrical cabinets, corner components may need to be manufactured according to specific drawings, frame dimensions and mounting requirements.
